Sweet smells

I love baking – something I don’t feel that I share enough on this blog. Currently I have a yummy banana bread baking away and the house smells amazing. This is definitely one of those moments were I wish we could share smell. It’s a strange thing to be making this hot summer afternoon but I pulled my bananas out of the freezer and had to do something with them!

Best tip ever – if your bananas are going bad, peel them and throw them in a plastic baggie then pop them in the freezer – you can bring them out and defrost when you need to make a banana recipe.

We’ve been a house of bugs recently (the sick kind not the bed bug kind!) first I got sick and then it hit my Mum and finally it’s hit Andreas. Thankfully Logan has been spared and I hope that doesn’t change because he’s due at daycare tomorrow. But not only that, he’s been terrible recently – not sleeping through the night (screaming & carrying on at all hours – we do pick him up from the cot but also try and leave him to cry which is IMPOSSIBLE!) and being such a grumpy tantrum throwing little guy. I know it really comes down to him needing his uninterrupted sleep during the night and possibly he has been feeling a little off as well. Either way I hope this finishes soon and he’s back to the little boy he was just a couple of months ago, this feels like Logan in the beginning which was horrid!

But back to the banana bread, the oven just went ding and I’m about to get it out. YUMMO!

Hope you’re feeling better! Also could Logan be having a growth spurt or teething? Eve has those weeks, but mostly they are if she’s accidentally had dairy products.
I’m having banana bread envy, have you tried this recipe?

I don’t know, he might be but it’s been going on for about two weeks since he started daycare 😦 It’s doing my head in not knowing what it is!
I haven’t tried that one, this was a banana bread recipe from Bill Granger on Not Quite Nigella. I used less sugar than they suggested so it definitely wasn’t a sweet one (aimed to make it for Logan). I gave him a tiny bit and he threw a giant hissy fit so I had to give him a slice, the tantrums have begun…

It could just be the adjustment to childcare (wish I had some advice but I’m a failure there).
I almost always cut the sugar down when baking.
The tantrums are hard, touch wood the frequency of them have slowed down here.

I was always a bit nervous about cutting sugar (and I can’t state the yucky aftertaste of the stevia etc..) but I’ll be doing it from now on!

I didn’t realise you should peel before popping in the freezer??? I’ve never done that!

And I sympathise… Many a rough rough night being had here too 😦

I had some unpeeled and others with peel and it’s just a lot easier without the peel. I’m not sure if they go more mushy with the peel than without – I found that to be the case for me.

Rough nights are the worst I keep thinking it will get better but I don’t think it will until he’s a lot older, just have to resign myself to my fate I guess. Hope Abi is ok, could you pin it down to anything?

  3. I would do more baking but then I just end up being a pig and eating it all!! Thats my excuse anyway 🙂

Sucks about the unsettled nights.. We just seem to go on constant waves.. good spells, followed by bad spells, followed by okay spells and then repeat… urgghh.

Hope Logan finds some peace soon

    xoxoxo

I feel like printing this off and sticking it on my mirror – the sleep cycles are exactly the same as Logan!!!

As for the baking I’ve had to start doing less because we always wind up with half a cake between two people. Completely defeats my exercise attempts.
